The Market is Open

We have NEW FARMERS to welcome to our market this week.
First up is Hillyard Farms from right here in our beloved Caldwell County. Jeremy works at the Sheriff’s office and is farming in his spare time. He has delightful squash this week, but is anticipating corn and melons later in the season.
I have been trying to recruit Twin Willows Farm since we opened last year. Their blueberries are one of the best berries I have tasted. Sweet and early these berries will not disappoint. They are only available a short while so get them while you can. If we can convince Lisa that we have a viable market worth the travel, they will also offer peaches and apples as the season continues.
I think I have finally mastered the credit /debit card issue. We will trial it this week and cross our fingers that I have figured it out. You will need to use your card online at the checkout point. I DO NOT HAVE A WAY TO PROCESS CARDS AT THE MARKET YET. As a small sustainable market we cannot afford to pay any extra dollars out, so we will be passing the 3.5% charge the company charges us, onto the customer using the debit/credit card feature. We still accept cash and check at the market, but I know for some it is convenient to pay by debit/credit cards.
See you at the market on Friday,
Angela

The Market is Open

Good Morning-
Sorry for the late opening this morning. It is funny to report that I have been having technical difficulties. That shouldn’t happen to an online farmers market!! So as I sit here at McDonalds, I find it quite ironic, to be opening our local foods market.
I would like to take this moment to welcome our newest grower, Bungalow Herbs. I had a lovely time with Terri last week while she handed out her orders. The gnocchi looked wonderful, and ya’ll might have to fight me for more this week. I especially like the mixed herb bouquet we got two weeks ago at the First Saturday market. Two weeks and it is still going strong, although there is not much left. At our house it sits on the kitchen counter looking pretty and getting added to everything.
I am enjoying this weather, and I look forward to seeing you on Friday.

We had a great first Friday market last week. I am so grateful that you are making the choice for locally grown food. It helps support local farmers/growers and helps our economy right here in our very own town. Thank you!
See you on Friday,
Angela

The Market is Open and Moving To FRIDAY

Just a reminder that we are moving to Friday as our pick up day. Same place – Tractor Supply on Hwy 62 in Princeton and same great time 4-6pm. We will be adding debit/credit card options this month as well. That is taking a bit more time than I had hoped to get worked out. We are also going to offer a delivery service for Princeton residents. The charge is $5, and we are going to experiment with this for summer.
I wanted to remind you that this weekend is first Saturday downtown, and a good number of our farmers will be there selling more yummy food and flowers. I hope you will come out and see them on the square around the courthouse. Princeton Farm Fresh will have an informational booth at the Pennington Festival this weekend too. Busy, busy, busy!!
See you on Friday,
Angela

Happy Memorial Day! What a beautiful day it is going to be. I hope that you will take time today to honor the military veterans in your life. For us this is a special holiday, a time to remember family members that served our great nation, but also a day to honor our husband and father Ray that still serves in the Army. It is easy to forget that these men and women give the ultimate sacrifice of their lives to protect our freedom. We have been fortunate that Ray has only had to go overseas once, but I know that other families struggle time and time again as their loved ones serve. Many lose the ones that they love, either physically or through the emotional trauma that war so often causes.
I would ask on this day that you not only remember the veterans but also the current soldiers serving and there families that give so much to our great nations freedom.
Have a great day – See you Thursday!
Angela

This week draws us that much closer to summer. The weather should start heating up again, and soon we will be seeing our summer veggie favorites. I look forward to this and all the wonderful summer dishes to come. Right now I am loving that we will have fresh peas this week in addition to carrots. Spring brings with it all the beginning vegetables that set our stomachs up right for the summer ones yet to come. I hope everyone has a great week.
See you Thursday,
Angela

I tried to come up with a recipe that encompassed everything we had to offer this week, and I could not narrow it down to one.
So instead I thought I would let you into our world of food. We are eating a bunch of salads and soups at our house this time of year. We are so busy getting veggies into the ground and lambing that it is refreshing to throw all the ingredients into the crock pot in the morning and come in at the end of a long day to the great smelling food. We have been pulling carrots and lettuce fresh from the garden for salads. It is very satisfying to be eating seasonally what is coming out of the garden.
See you on Thursday!
