I am a middle school teacher, but enjoy making beautiful, luxurious hand-crafted soap. I live on 50 acres in Fredonia, with my husband, 2 dogs, one spoiled cat, and 12 Buff Orpington hens. I would like to sell my product, crafted from lard, coconut oil, olive oil, water, sodium hydroxide (lye), Shea butter, cocoa butter, and castor oil. All soap is made using lye—it is chemically altered when it bonds with oils and fats to become soap. My recipe provides for additional oil/fat, ensuring that all lye molecules are bonded with fat molecules and the leftover oil/fat (called super-fat in soaping lingo)will add conditioning for your skin. I use fragrance oils and natural and artificial colors. I will be adding salt and sugar scrubs, bath bombs and lotion to my product line. I am interested in giving soaping lessons and creating custom orders for events: baby shower, weddings, etc. I am open to suggestions for combinations of fragrance and additives that customers might like to try. All soaps are packaged in labeled plastic bags or with a labeled cigar-band, and suitable for gift-giving. I can also create bath and beauty gift baskets at customer request.
